As we begin a fresh year, it is a good idea to not just evaluate ourselves based on the previous year on how we have been managing our lives, but also to find out ways to become more productive as we move along. In this issue, I'd like to share with you some powerful ideas on productivity and how we can make the best of our resources, time, energy and capabilities. Let's do this! | Why "Done is Better Than Perfect" by Sheryl Sandberg The CEO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg, has one of the best success quotes to live by: Done is Better Than Perfect. The innovative products that we know are constantly evolving; and we're not likely to ever reach perfection as no one has. Instead, getting things done is more important than being perfect, and this applies to various areas in our lives. | Creating Time: How to Master the Art of Intentionality Global economic indicators suggest that despite the additional hours that people work daily, outcomes remain low. Everyone is busy — but that isn’t necessarily translating into productivity. According to Harvard University researchers, our attention wanders away from what we’re doing 46.9% of the time. For both leaders and employees, that’s half the work day. Half a day of not being fully present with tasks and people. This lack of presence is costly. | The Perfectionist Trap | Celina Belizan | Proudly Brought to You I seek to reach out to people who believe in safeguarding the interests of their loved ones. Let me know if I can be of help to someone you know or care about. We can make a difference to lives when it matters most. But best decision ever.
“I wont advise you to invest until 6 months later, after we have tracked your cash flow”
“There are more packages but I won’t sell those, cause they are really not worth. I can run through them but will refer you to someone else if you really want to buy.”
“Me: I don’t really know how cpf and income tax works
Syamim: *prepares an entire ppt and lecture to educate me”
“Me: I have random insurance that my parents buy from different companies, but I don’t really know what they are.
Syamim: *makes me send him screenshots from SingPass, pdfs from AXA and the GE app on my dad’s phone to find out what I have.”
If those quotes weren’t enough, the final stroke for me was;
“Syamim: *pulls out an excel sheet 10 mins into our first meeting to start calculating my cash flow and planning for things like holidays to marriage to dental appointments.”
I have met more than 5 financial advisors, but all seemed to just want to “grow my wealth”. While that is important, I think understanding my wealth and giving me handles to manage it is much more important. At our age, really think financial literacy is the way to go. Syamim keeps up to date and is a really good teacher, even asked him if he considered being one. What he does is to give you the necessary knowledge to manage your own finances and make the most well informed decisions.
Coming full circle, he is everything a financial advisor should be but usually isn’t - giving you good financial advise and lets you decide.
What everyone else does is tell you how to grow your wealth, how to invest, how to beat inflation, another savings plan, another plan to diversify, or simply instilling some fear of the future to help you ‘invest’ early.
So for all the lost souls and fresh graduates, Syamim is definitely the guy for you. I’ve actually never met anyone else who pulls out an excel sheet to plan my finances instead of drawing me some triangle, timeline or graph.
He is open to teaching and advising those who already has insurance plans too, no strings attached!! So feel free to reach out. If you feel bad just get him a drink though he will probably tell you to wait till you gain enough income to buy him one :)) | | | Mad (Auxiliary Officer) Syamim was made known to me by a close friend of mine whom recommended me to see him as I require certain advise because my previous financial advisor does not seem to be helpful. Thus, I decided why not give it a try since its a recommendation from a close friend of mine whom I trust.
What was beneficial to me was the different approach Syamim took by going through the extra mile to explain the pros and cons of taking up different insurances and investments, taking his time to clear my doubts. His explanation was very precise and eye opening to me as my perception of financial planning was not what I expected it to be.
Syamim was the one and only financial advisor which changed my perception of the typical financial advisor out there who only wants to hit their sales targets.
I would highly recommend Syamim to my friends and family members whom is keen to know more about financial planning as I feel that he is one of the most genuine and honest financial advisor that I've known without any doubt. | | | Xavier (Software Developer) Syamim was introduced to me a few years ago, he was originally recommended by my close friend. I was skeptical of FA in general but Syamim puts me at ease. He clearly outlines the pros and cons of his plans, any fees and pitfalls you should be worried about when investing or looking into insurance.
Even if you decide not to engage him, he still gives you 100% and breaks down very logical goals for you to understand in an easy manner. Overall will and have been recommending Syamim to everyone! | | | Syahir (Student) I chose to meet Syamim as he is my family's financial advisor. Before our first meeting, he guaranteed that the meeting would be non-obligatory and he kept his promise.
Through meeting him, I feel that learning more about investments and how to grow my money in the long term very useful. I think this is important for young people like myself to learn as we may need cash in the long term.
I would definitely recommend this meeting to others. This could be useful for anyone at any age to learn more about how to manage their finances or even grow their money. | | | Aameena I recently had the pleasure of working with Syamim from Great Eastern for my insurance needs, and I must say that my experience was exceptionally positive.
Syamim demonstrated a high level of professionalism and provided excellent customer service throughout the entire process. He was prompt in responding to my inquiries, addressing my concerns, and guiding me through the complexities of various insurance policies.
What sets Syamim apart is his in-depth knowledge. He took the time to thoroughly explain the available options, helping me understand the intricacies of each policy. His expertise made it easier for me to make informed decisions that align with my specific needs.
Communication was generally clear and concise. I appreciated Syamim's commitment to tailoring a policy that fits my unique requirements. He took the time to assess my situation and customize a plan that not only provides comprehensive coverage but also fits within my budget.
Working with Syamim was a refreshing experience in an industry that can sometimes be overwhelming. His dedication to customer satisfaction, coupled with his knowledge and professionalism, makes him a reliable choice for anyone seeking insurance solutions.
I highly recommend Syamim to anyone in search of a trustworthy and competent insurance agent. His commitment to excellence is evident, and I feel confident knowing that my insurance needs are in capable hands. | | | Naqia & Emi (Civil servant) Syamim is a great financial advisor.
We had other insurance agents before, but like most, after signing up for the insurance or financial plans, agents tend to vanish. When you are laid in a hospital and need help, you'd expect your agent to be able to answer your queries. Ours didn't. Luckily for us, we had already engaged Syamim as our financial advisor. When I was admitted to the hospital, despite not having a hospitalisation plan with him, Syamim gave us the answers that we needed when our own agent disappeared on us.
After I was discharged, again it was Syamim who helped us with the claiming. Imagine that! An honest and reliable financial advisor in your time of need!
He didn't hard-sell any of his plans. He listened to our needs and explained thoroughly about the plans he thought was necessary at different points in our life.
A great financial advisor that we would definitely recommend!! | | | | |
