In life, there are days and moments where everything we do does not feel enough, or face situations that are beyond our control. A common response to such instances is to doubt ourselves and our abilities, and that is a very normal and human thing to do. But the effect of self-doubt can cut both ways: It can either spur us to achieve our goals and thereby boost our confidence levels, or cause us to feel entirely powerless and paralysed. Fortunately, whether we allow it to work for or against us is mostly up to us. In this issue, we will explore the ways in which we can harness self-doubt to build confidence -- one step at a time.

Moving from Self Doubt to Self Confidence

It would be nice if moving from self doubt to self confidence just came naturally. However, moving from self doubt to self confidence is a practice you can adopt, with practice. When you are able to identify where your insecurities lie and what is stopping you from feeling confident, you can then start the process of moving from self doubt to self confidence. You will be able to work on eliminating the blocks that are keeping you from moving through life with assuredness. Here are some of the culprits for the patterns of self doubt and ideas for what you can do about them.

While some need mindset adjustments, others need a confidence boost or a little reassurance that they are on the right track. Take small steps, follow and when doubt starts to creep in, remind yourself that money is only a tool and you are learning.

Naff (Media Analyst)

Syamim has taught me a lot about how to better manage my finances, as well as the importance of being prudent and prepared for the future. He has been very detailed and patient in helping me sort out my finances. I especially appreciate him taking the time to come up with a personalised plan that is easy for me to understand and keep up along the way. Syamim sets aside realistic financial goals for me in terms of my immediate as well as future plans. He is very approachable and always ready to answer my queries with sincerity. Thank you for always going the extra mile! I highly recommend Syamim for anyone who is looking for personal financial management.

Zahid (Port operations)

Syamim has been my neighbour since my childhood days and he has been managing my friends and family's finances which made me choose to consult him for financial planning. I find his in-depth planning for my financial goals not only for the short term but long-term gives me clarity in my life. It was extremely beneficial. I would definitely recommend those who want to get their finances in order to consult Syamim.

Syafiq (Police Officer)

Syamim is very transparent with his services. Among other things, I like that he helps me monitor and my investment performance consistently as I may not always have the time to do it. As many have a hard time trusting financial advisors, Syamim starts with our goals instead of his. He will discuss with us to see what suits best for us. I would definitely recommend all of you to meet Syamim. My friends and families that I've recommended to Syamim came back with good experience and all of them mentioned that their previous other financial advisors have not been there for them throughout their journey in financial planning unlike Syamim.

Syuhrah (Journalist)

Syamim is efficient and professional when dealing with clients. Through him, I learnt extensively on how to better manage my finances. He highlighted the importance of future planning ass well as enlightening me regarding issues I've never thought about. I'm very thankful for his guidance. I'd recommend him to my friends due to his strong work ethic and he is definitely someone you can rely on and trust for your financial freedom and security.

Dira (Retail) & Syazwan (Civil Servant)

Syamim has helped us plan our finances, which has been very useful, especially after having our newborn daughter. Prior to planning to have a child, Syamim made the effort to explain how having a child will change our financial situation significantly. With that, he gave tips and advices which made us confident that we could go ahead and plan to start a family. Syamim has been very thorough with his explanation on the policies & he understood the needs that we were looking for. I would definitely recommend these meetings to others!

Syafiq (Undergraduate)

My search for a financial advisor (FA) took almost a year. I was finding a financial advisor that was not only meticulous and effective but also down to earth. Syamim was a perfect fit and I never regretted taking up his services ever since then. Syamim knows what is best for his clients and ensures that his client’s expectations are met., Personal finance budget and goal setting was the most beneficial part of the meeting. Syamim analysed and took into consideration all of my finances. Documents were setup for a better visualisation of the plans. This allowed me to have a better understanding of my finances. As a student, there were limitations to the planning, but we managed to come up with a student friendly plan. All of the goals were revisited each year to ensure that I was on track. He was never shy of sharing any financial advice that would help me achieve my goals and also to improve my spending habits. I would definitely recommend this meeting to others.
